'Fugaces', the New Project by Mary Frances Attías Antún
The presentation and signing of the Fugaces book, a limited edition by visual artist Mary Frances Attías Antún, will take place on Thursday, September 8th, at 6:30 PM at the Pedro Mir Forum at Cuesta Libros.
The visual artist, true to her vocation, moves through literature, writing, drawing, and painting, taking independent courses and workshops with renowned artists and curators from the local and international scene in order to deeply and constantly update and transform her perception of her environment from an aesthetic point of view.
Attías has participated in collective and individual exhibitions in Chile, Spain, and the Dominican Republic, both in-person and virtually, and her work has been featured in important media outlets in her country. Her series "Fugaces," exhibited in Madrid in 2021, was selected for display at the Foto Arica International Festival in Chile that same year. Among her recognitions is an Honorable Mention in the Social Media category from "Andares de la Ciudad Colonial", a program to develop the artistic and urban heritage of Santo Domingo's old city.
She is a member of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) and the local collective Fotogrupo, actively participating in their activities. She directs the Timeart Foundation, which offers university scholarships to deserving Dominican students and creates workshops, audiovisuals, and other cultural activities that contribute to the comprehensive education of young people.
During the event, a photographic discussion and a conversation about the book are planned among the panelists: Gerardo Zavarce, cultural promoter, art critic, and curator; Alfredo Padrón, photographer and educator; and Anitza Gutiérrez, university professor, cultural manager, researcher, curator, and art critic.
