Awarded the 'Best Women Short' prize by the Independent Short Awards of Los Angeles, and a finalist at the Cannes World Film Festival last September, the short film 'A Leap into the Void', whose executive production was handled by Mary Frances Attías, is a representation of good Dominican short film cinema.

International Festivals with Monthly Competition

Cannes World Film Festival is an international hybrid festival, different from the Festival de Cannes, with a monthly and annual competition. Selected films are screened at their partner cinema, Cineum Cannes. In turn, Independent Short Awards is an international festival based in Los Angeles, also with a monthly and annual competition, whose selected films are screened at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood. Both festivals are qualified by IMDb, that is, Internet Movie Database, an Amazon subsidiary.

Film Forums about Vicarious Violence

Vicarious violence is the theme of the award-winning short film 'A Leap into the Void', whose screenplay was written by Mary Frances Attías and Eudys Cordero and directed by Adrian Díaz and Adrian Santana. In November, on the occasion of non-violence month, the Timeart Foundation has scheduled several film forums throughout the country to raise awareness about this scourge that affects us as a society. In a future column, I will provide details about those that will be open to the public. Congratulations to Mary Frances Attías for these successful results and for her interest in contributing to Dominican society through the Timeart Foundation with its various initiatives. ('A Leap into the Void' was screened at the Dominican Fine Arts Festival held in Santo Domingo last May).
