The Pedro Mir Forum at Cuesta Libros welcomed a select audience at the presentation and signing of the book "Fugaces" by visual artist Mary Frances Attías Antún, who is recognized as an example of the purest photographic aesthetics.

The welcoming words were delivered by cultural promoter and curator Gerardo Zavarce, who highlighted that in this book Mary Frances "invites us to contemplate each of her photographs that show coherence from beginning to end, in a holding on and letting go that is inherent to life."

Following this, the event featured a panel that, in addition to Gerardo Zavarce, was led by photography professionals Anitza Gutiérrez, professor at the Faculty of Arts at UASD; and Alfredo Padrón, professor of photography and film at the Santo Domingo Institute of Technology and photography at Chavón, the School of Design, who presented their assessment of the experience and conception process of the publication.

They explained that the artist developed a project of great visual and content coherence by taking the road as a metaphor for life and time. The blurred image, which photojournalists adopted in the context of World War II, has become an ideal aesthetic resource for expressing movement in two-dimensional imagery.

They highlighted that this book is an example of the purest photographic aesthetics, since in the strict sense what defines it, beyond pictorialism, is the attention to the ephemeral.

When sharing her experience, artist Mary Frances Attías Antún said "with this project I want to express the dislocation between the observer and the observed, through elusive moments that quickly fade and, consequently, do not become fixed in our memory."

Some guests also expressed their appreciation for the author of this book, highlighting her ability to create, support art, and support artists in the country.

Subsequently, the author signed the books purchased by the guests, whose sales will benefit the Timeart Foundation, a non-profit institution she created to promote the comprehensive development of Dominicans through educational initiatives in the areas of mental health, technology, education, and art. Several young people supported by this foundation gave their testimony through a video.
